Mindfulness is about having more awareness in the present moment and about being less in the past and in the future. It is about having a gentle and non-judgmental curiosity about your self. It is about learning different ways to focus and develop your own wisdom. The regular practice of Mindfulness Meditation increases your concentration, clarity and equanimity resulting in reduced stress, more happiness, self-knowledge, and a more balanced relationship between thoughts, emotions, mind and body.
Jeanne Townsend started her meditation journey over thirty years ago with Transcendental Meditation. After other spiritual exploration, her path finally took her to her current teacher, the well-respected Mindfulness teacher Shinzen Young, with whom she has been studying and attending retreats for the last ten years. He has trained her as a facilitator to coach and teach Mindfulness Meditation to others. Jeanne bases her teaching primarily on the work of Shinzen Young, but also includes influences from other experienced meditation teachers.
There are many different meditation techniques, styles and strategies available to an individual meditator. As a meditation coach, Jeanne can help custom-fit a program to a person’s specific needs and provide support and positive feedback to their continuing and evolving practice.
Jeanne works with beginners new to meditation and also coaches experienced meditators who wish to deepen their practice. She offers her services to groups and individuals and is currently developing a class to work with those challenged with chronic pain and illness.
